Burgers, Beaches & Besties: Our Chill Week in San Diego

Sometimes, adventure looks like cliff hikes, scenic overlooks, and off-the-grid discoveries. And sometimes, it looks like grilled turkey burgers, pasta salad, and catching up with lifelong friends around a campfire.

We’ve spent the past week soaking up San Diego—not just the sun (though wow, hello June gloom-breaker), but the good company of family and old friends. No rushing. No big agendas. Just long meals, loud laughter, and low-key living.

One evening we grilled turkey burgers with our dear friends Manny and Laurie—from way back—I first met Laurie when we were only 19 years old, and the conversation stretched long past dessert under the stars. There’s just something about a campfire that makes time slow down and stories bubble up.

And the best part? Millie is back to her old self! After a stretch of not feeling her best, she’s now absolutely possessed when it comes to playing fetch. She’s got that gleam in her eye and the turbo-charged zoomies to prove it. We’ve clocked more tennis ball mileage than actual hikes this week.

We didn’t do much, but we did it well. The week reminded us why we travel this way—not just to see the world, but to reconnect with the people who make it feel like home.

Stay tuned—we’re heading back on the road soon. But this pitstop was exactly what we didn’t know we needed.
